Our
Story

Get to Know Us

RoboCoders are an elementary and middle school robotics team. We are made up of students from several schools and meet in Ocoee Florida.  We have made our team number for our competitions 34761 to represent the pride we have in our community.

We started to compete in 2023 and were able to place in the top ten in every event we attended. We even placed second and third in our district competitions. We are looking to expand and attend more competitions this year so that we can continue our upward momentum.

All students in RoboCoders attend title one schools and are supported by public school teachers. A goal of our team is to make it as diverse as possible and include students from all backgrounds.

In RoboCoders, we get to learn about STEM skills and social and emotional skills. We go to competitions that require us to work with each other and with the other teams in the competition.

We currently are building our VEX robot for the 2024- 2025 season. We are excited to see how far RoboCoders can make it this year!

While we are currently competing in VEX robotics, our team is limited due to what we have access to. We are looking to invite more students to join our team, as well as, participate in more competitions. VEX Robotics is an educational robotics program starting at Pre-K all the way to graduate university level. Beyond science and engineering principles, VEX encourages creativity, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving among groups. Last year we had a waiting list to get into our team, but did not have the resources to allow all students who are interested to join.

RoboCoders in Action

Why Teach Robotics?

  • Coding Skills: It develops coding and programming skills essential for the digital age.

  • Tech Literacy: Robotics enhances technological literacy, preparing students for future careers in technology and engineering.

  • Innovation: It nurtures innovation by encouraging students to experiment with new ideas and solutions.

Social and Emotional Needs

  • Collaboration: Robotics encourages teamwork and collaboration as students work together to design, build, and program robots.

  • Problem-solving: It fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills as students troubleshoot and debug their robots.

  • Creativity: Robotics allows students to express creativity through designing and customizing their robots.

  • Persistence: It promotes perseverance and resilience as students iterate and improve their designs.

Building Autonomy

  • Independence: Robotics empowers students to work independently on projects, enhancing their self-confidence and autonomy.

  • Real-world Application: It provides real-world relevance by applying theoretical knowledge to tangible projects.

  • Career Readiness: Robotics skills are increasingly in demand across various industries, preparing students for future careers.

  • Future-Proofing: It equips students with skills that are likely to remain relevant in an increasingly automated world.
